Nike Summer Showdown CanCon Day 4

Published

on

July 15 saw the conclusion of the 2011 Nike Summer Showdown in Chicago, IL. As expected, over 250 female teams came out sporting many of the heavily watched names of the 2012 to 2016 classes.  This large field in turn brought out over 320 attending U.S. college and university coaches.

The provincial teams used this as an opportunity for getting some bonding both on and off the court for recently assembled teams as they prepare for the upcoming Canadian National Championships next month in Winnipeg. And, as expected with newly formed teams, there will certainly be some kinks to work out when they resume practicing.
Meanwhile, this tounament saw the Canada Drive U17 team hitting on all cylinders as they managed to take top honours in the tournament’s Red Division. On the final day of competition, the Hamilton based travel team that was certainly the most successful of the Canadian teams in Chicago, fought to narrowly squeek out a 36-35 win in order to earn their unblemished 6-0 record.

The following are the July 15 results and the overall tournament records of the Canadian entries:

Team Manitoba U14
