juel-asg-groupOn May 24, 2014 the JUEL rep League All-Star game saw the Seniors defeat the Juniors by a score of 69-64.

Indicative of the close finish, the Seniors, consisting of fourth and fifth year high school students, led throughout the game, but needed all four quarters to fully put away their Grade 11 foes. The pesky Juniors kept hanging around, several times overcoming deficits of about a dozen points to really make things interesting approaching the final buzzer.

The Seniors took control of the game very early in the game, controlling the tempo and completing attempts to the tune of a 38-28 lead at halftime. And with their lead never seemingly in jeopardy, continued the flow through much of the third quarter as well.

But in the final quarter, the Juniors came alive making their push. The charge, led by six points each from Kendra Van Leeuwen and Candice Wright, put up 20 points in the frame. But their final push was not enough, ultimately succumbing by four.

The Seniors, who had scoring from just about every player, were led by Lorraine Enabulele with 18 points and an 11 point contribution from both Kia Nurse and Christina Buttenham.

Meanwhile, the Junior Team’s leading scorer was Julia Chandler who scored 13 points, followed by Candice Wright’s 12 points and three 3-pointers from Kendra Van Leeuwen on her way to 11.

This year’s edition of fourth annual game, took place at the Mattamy Centre of Ryerson University in Toronto, ON.
