Danielle Boiago To Become a Marauder This Fall

On March 20, 2012, another from the Class of 2012 went off the board when Danielle Boiago announced that she has made the decision that she will attend McMaster University to become a Marauder in the Fall to pursue a Kinesiology degree.

Boiago is a speedy Guard that loves to run the open floor and take advantage of defenders that like to step out on her flat footed. She is no slouch on the defensive end either as she possesses great footwork and a keen eye for knowing the opportune time to swoop in for steals. To the Marauders she brings an even-keeled mannarism that stays cool under pressure allowing her to make wise decisions in the heat of battle.

Its with that level headedness, that she came to a post secondary conclusion, quite some time ago.

“I decided that I wanted to stay in Ontario for university in Grade 11, which made my decision a lot easier. I was recruited by many schools both here and stateside but my final decision was between McMaster, Laurier, and Windsor.”

Boiago, is from the Hamilton, ON area where McMaster is located, making her final decision that much more a slam dunk.

“I am looking forward to playing for such a dedicated coaching staff led by Coach Burns, and I feel privileged that I will have the opportunity to do so in my own city in front of my family and friends.”

Boiago has spent the last three summers as a key contributor of Team Ontario. In the U17 age category she had won Gold in 2011 averaging 9.8points per game. She had also won Silver in 2010 (U17 Category) and as a U15 player, she won Gold in 2009. Representing her Province successfully was a great accomplishment. But, winning at the highest level closer to home, stays dearest to her heart.

“My most memorable basketball experience over the past four years would definitely be winning gold at OFSAA (Ontario’s High School Championships). There is no better feeling than winning a provincial championship for your school community”, says Boiago about the accomplishment she attained with St Thomas More in this, her final High School season.

Boiago will now look to continue the torrid pace she has set in Ontario’s JUEL rep league for the Blessed Sacrament Yellow Jackets. Through 11 games she leads the league in scoring with 23.1 points and is a league leader in Steals (3.4 per game) and 3-Point Shooting Percentage (16 for 39; 41%).
