On November 25, 2017, the Frontenac Falcons of Kingston, ON captured the 2017 OFSAA 2A Gold Medal by beating the Bishop Macdonell Celtics of Guelph, ON, 52-42.

Aaliyah Edwards was the game’s high scorer with 25 points for the Falcons. Grace Drewry responded with 11 points to lead the charge for the Celtics.

The Celtics led the game early after a low scoring first quarter, by a score of 8-4. This was before the Falcons got their offence started in the second quarter with 17 points and were able to take a slim 21-20 lead at halftime.

The momentum stayed in Frontenac’s favour through the third quarter as they extended their lead to 40-31, and maintaining that cushion until the end of the game.

As was the case in this game, Edwards was a key contributor to Frontenac’s success throughout the Falcon’s five game, Ontario high school championship run. She scored no less than 20 points in any game in the event and averaged 22.8 points per game.

The win by the competition’s top ranked Kingston, ON team, over the third ranked Celtics, capped off a perfect season where the Falcons went undefeated from start to finish.
