Taya HansonTaya Hanson (4-stars, G, TRC Academy/Blue Star BC/AthElite) of Kelowna, BC has announced her verbal commitment to attend Arizona State University and play in the PAC-12 with the Sun Devils in the Fall of 2018.

“I am very honoured and excited to spend the next chapter of my life at ASU,” said Hanson via Instagram.

The Tempe, AZ school will be acquiring a model player and teammate in Hanson. She is that one player that everyone roots for because of how nice of a person she is, and for how much she pushes herself to work hard, whether training on her own, or in practice. On the court, she isn’t afraid to fight with bigger players for rebounds, is a very good defender and is a leader among her peers. On the offensive side of the ball, she is very comfortable using either hand whether dribbling or completing around the basket and isn’t afraid to pull-up with good success.

After attending Kelowna High School during the 2015-2016 school year, Hanson played with Blue Star British Columbia/AthElite during the AAU circuit which ended with her playing at the USJN Nationals stop in Washington DC. From there, Hanson made the journey across the country to attend TRC Academy prep, located in Brantford, ON, where she now still attends.

Ever humble and grateful, Hanson went on in the Instagram post to acknowledge those that were there to help her along her journey, to get to this key milestone.

“There have been many coaches, teammates and friends who have encouraged me throughout my journey and filled my life with opportunity, I am so thankful for all of you! I would not be where I am today if it was not for the constant love and support from my family! With God my dreams have been made possible! I guess you can call me a Sundevil now!!!”
