Nikita TelesfordNikita Telesford (6’1”, P, from Pickering, ON) has signed her LOI to attend NCAA Division 1, Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan in the Fall of 2015.

Telesford is enthused about making her decision to become a Golden Bear.

“I’m very excited that I have an opportunity to go there. It’s a great school and I think it’s going to be a great fit for me.”

Telesford is a mobile type of Post that can run the floor and get to her spot quickly. She has been valuable to her teams to this point by being able to provide her immediate Post presence in transition. In the half court set, she has demonstrated a decent back to the basket game, that doesn’t shy away from contact.

Being able to bring her game out a little farther from the basket is something that she is going to be making a conscious effort to add to the weapons she has to draw from when she looks to start play in the Horizon League athletic conference in which Oakland plays.

“I’m a Post that can run the floor, and I’ll be working on shooting the ball and being very versatile, while being big”, said Telesford. Looking ahead, she went on to say, “I want to be able to shoot the ball from inside and outside.”

Telesford’s Pickering Trojans high school team has come off a very productive season that culminated in a Silver Medal performance at the OFSAA 4A, Ontario High School championships that took place in Guelph, ON.

Next Fall however, she will be studying at Oakland, located about 40km north of Detroit at a campus that she feels will be the perfect fit for her.

“It’s close to home and it’s an amazing school. It’s in a nice area. It just felt like the school for me.”

Besides spending her summers with the ‘A’ Game travel team, Telesford played her rep ball last season with the Advantage Titans who have had three others commit from that squad including Lorraine Enabulele, Danielle Garven and Khara Keane.
