Tatiana Toledo of Blainville, QC has committed to attend the University of Tampa and play with the Spartans of the NCAA’s Division 2, Sunshine State Conference this Fall.
“I am incredibly happy to announce that I have accepted a full scholarship offer and committed to the University of Tampa”, said Toledo via social media account.
“As soon as I walked on to campus, met the coaches and the team, I knew I had found a home. It was never about divisions, name or rankings. It was about feeling as part of a family.”
Toledo is a traditional Post that looks to take advantage of her size by creating additional opportunities for her teammates, while creating a few for herself as well. With a more a renewed focus over the past year or so, she has made improvements to her mobility which have resulted in more rebounds and better scoring opportunities. With her Senior year now completed, Toledo led the CÉGEP Quebec school league in blocks with 1.9 per game and tallied a decent 10.8 points per game on 53% shooting from the field for Vanier College. She also shot 61.5% from the Free Throw line which was again respectable for a player of her size and position.
Prior to playing with Vanier, Toledo played with the Rosemère community team, played a couple of seasons with Team Quebec and even earned a couple of invites to the Canada Basketball Assessment Camp tryouts. Each opportunity seems to have left an impression with the big, about the people and places she had encountered.
“Basketball has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. It’s allowed me to travel and make great friends. I’ve been especially blessed to have incredible mentors.”
Of those memories, she went in to say, “My journey hasn’t always been easy, but I’ve kept persevering. I’m humbled by all of the offers I’ve received from D1, D2 and CIS schools.”
“I want to thank my parents and family for always being there for me, my ex-teammates and for all of you who have believed in me.”
