Team Ontario U17 have made adjustments to their roster, with the goal of a 2016 Canadian National Championship in mind.
Head Coach, Christa Eniojukan, took to twitter earlier this week to announce their flagship roster, which will take part at the Canadian Nationals from July 25-30 at the University of Regina in Regina, SK.
The roster were taken from an assessment that was done from play of the members of the two Team Ontario U17 teams that took part in the Nike Tournament of Champions in Chicago, IL last weekend (see 2016 Nike TOC standout article). At that event, Team Ontario fielded Team Red and Team White squads, both of which which drew significant interest. There, Team White finished with a 3-2 record and Team Red finished with a 4-1 record against some very strong competition.
Players that were not selected to play on the roster that will be competing for a Canadian Nationals gold medal, are scheduled to play at the USJN National Championships taking place July 22-25, 2016 in Washington, DC.
The following is how the two U17 rosters have been divvied up:
Team Ontario – National Team – Canadian Nationals, Regina, SK, July 25-30, 2016
Jama Bin Edwards
Team Ontario – USJN National Championships, Washington, DC, July 22-25, 2016
Laura Donovan (INJ)
Kate Moran (INJ)
The Team Ontario U15s that were also at the Nike Tournament of Champions, will remain together and attend the Canadian National Championships in Regina, SK, during the same time as the U17 team.
At USJN DC, Team Ontario U14 will be participating in the U15 event, which runs from July 25-28.
