On May 17, 2017, Canada Basketball released their list of the final 19 player being considered for inclusion on the Canadian National U16 team.

The selected players are invited to attend tryouts at the University of Toronto Mississauga Campus (Mississauga, ON) from May 24-25, 2017. There, the final selections will be made for the team travelling to Buenos Aires, Argentina, to represent their country at the FIBA Americas U16 Championships to try to defend Canada’s 2015 Gold Medal.

The top 19 players invited, have been selected from the pool of 40 or so players that attended the Spring Assessment Camp, which took place earlier this year.

“After a very competitive assessment process we have invited 19 athletes who hope to represent Canada this summer in Argentina for the FIBA U16 Women’s Americas Championship,” said Denise Dignard, director, women’s high performance via press release.

“These athletes have worked hard throughout the year and we look forward to a competitive tryout and continuing their international basketball development.”
