U17 Canadians Complete Group Stage Undefeated

On June 25, 2016, the Canadian National U17 team defeated Japan by a score of 70-55 at the FIBA World Championships in Zaragoza, Spain.

The Canadian team was again led by another stellar performance by Laeticia Amihere. She shot 10 for 15 from the field in her 26 minutes of playing time en route to her second double-double. This time she scored 20 points and gathering 16 rebounds. Her standout performance was also topped off by her addition of 4 blocks.

After ending the first quarter tied up at 17, the Canadians found some separation in the second and third quarters, outscoring their opponents 36-20.

Canadian Guard, Shaina Pellington went 3 for 3 beyond the arc, as both her and Forward Hailey Brown scored 11 points.
Alyssa Jerome wound up just shy of her first double-double of the event, finishing with 9 points and 10 rebounds.

After finishing on top of their group with a perfect 3-0 record, the Canadians will have the day off on June 26, before facing Mexico in the Round of 16.
