The MVP in this Tournament was Eternati Willock. Her performances were dominant on both ends of the floor. She led the Panthers in scoring each game, averaging 19.7ppg throughout the tournament. She did so by making full use of her post up game and shooting the ball extremely well. In the defensive end, especially in the Championship Final vs Campion, she was extremely competitive. She made sure that every shot was contested and appeared to be sending a message with every blocked shot.

Also receiving recognition for their play throughout the tournament were the following All-Stars:
Danielle Garven
Garven has been streaking lately, allowing Pope to really positive results. Her increasing confidence is allowing her to flow through the course of games and play with much purpose. Although I have seen her shoot the ball better, but that in no way means that didn’t score the ball well from outside throughout the three days. Her length and ability to stretch the floor played a big role in freeing up some of the clutter in the paint, while defenses had to respect her ability to shoot or put the ball on the floor and drive.

janika-griffith-wallaceJanika Griffith-Wallace
Griffith-Wallace truly deserved the nod as a Tournament All-Star as this sophomore proved in this tournament that she would be a head turner for years to come. She is a very good attacking ball handler whose style complemented Colley’s well. While better results in finishing around the basket would have aided her Bears, she demonstrated on more than several occasions why she has an extremely high ceiling and should be a top prospect to be on the look out for over the next couple of years.

Shay Colley
Colley was the focal point for the Bears as the vast majority of their offence flowed through her and as her fortunes went, so did her team’s. Her inability to be taken off the ball when attacking the basket made it difficult for her to be defended, along with how she messed up defenders’ timing with her hops and stutter steps while dribbling. Throw in the occasional 3-pointer and her unselfish nature with the ball and altogether you have the makings of one of the gems of the 2014 Class at this tournament.

Iziegbe Enabulele
Menace is a word that comes to my mind when thinking about Enabulele dominance in the paint. Enabulele’s physical performance in the paint on defense made life difficult for opposing bigs that dared enter into her space. She gave no mercy by making them all have to contend with her reach, rebounding instincts and strength. Don’t let me forget to point out that she also averaged over 19ppg as her reward from going all out on both ends including a 27Point statement game in the tournament’s opening round.

Of course, there more than several other players that stood out in this tournament. Let’s take a look at just a few of them:

Here are some of the 2016 and 2017 players that caught our eye at this year’s Centennial Colts High School Tournament and how they did:

Class of 2016

Jade Codinera
Cordinera turned many heads at the Centennial College High School Tournament. Cordinera shot the three point shot very well and has found comfort in a pet move with the hesitation. She was able to get into the lane and give her post players open shots. Cordinera showed she will be ready to take over this team for the 2014 season. She understands that her responsibility is to get her post players easy touches, while sharing the ball with her other guards.

Meghan Chin
Chin showed her high motor and ability to finish with her good jumping ability. While there is room for improvement with her footwork and ball handling. She was able to lead her team to Consolation Game. She made timely shots and rebounded well.

Class of 2017

Aiden Rainford
Rainford showed that she was more than at home with players 4 years older than her throughout the tournament. She was that way because she displayed a positive, workman-like attitude. Relying on a solid foundation of skills, Rainford was not only a weapon pretty much anywhere in the offensive end, but a tricky defender to deal with in the paint. She demonstrated that she has a tremendous upside.

And finally, the 2014 and 2015 tournament standouts:

Class of 2014

Kimeshia Henry
Henry had several good attempts to the basket that eventually led to several trips to the line. She showed several moves to get to the hoop including showing that she could breakdown her defender and pull up, which opened up her game and allowed to her to have and open 3-point shot. She was a thorn in the side of opposing Guards by disrupting timing and she playing very good on the ball defence.

Brianne Cohen
Despite the challenges that York Memorial had throughout the tournament, it must be said that Cohen was a bright spot for her team. She competed well on both ends of the floor and even demonstrated a decent post up game. An obvious leader on her team, she not only led vocally but in her gameplay as well, consistently leading her team in scoring.

Kate Follis
Follis put up 24 points against the tournament’s eventual semi-finalists Notre Dame-Ajax, in her first game using a number of ways. She proved was able to get to the Free Throw line, where she shot 6-for-8 in the first half alone in that game. She also had the long ball going on, connecting on four 3-pointers and showing her long range ability. Although I would have liked to have seen her in the Post a bit more to make use of her long 6’1″ size and reach, it seemed as though her team’s make up required her to have the ball in her hands making decisions on the perimeter.

Class of 2015

Bridget Carleton
Bridget Carleton showed her versatility and many tools in a tight first game victory
against the St. Joseph-Wellesley Bears. Facing a tough defender in the Bear’s Dominique Maxwell, did a great job forcing Carleton into taking tough shots, she was still able to show her footwork with step back shots and using her size to get to the hoop. Carleton size and very good ball handle makes her a difficult match up. She showed the ability to get to the hoop against a very athletic defender. As well, she
really showed her ability to defend. She is more of an asset on the wing as defender. Lastly, she is not afraid of any moment that presented itself, and this type of leadership is what helped her to push her team to be a worthy adversary in their games.

Monique Calliste
Monique Calliste scored 35 of Mother Teresa 46 points against Loyola in her second game. Her tough nose attitude and willingness to fight for every position. Calliste showed heart and grit from opening tip to the last buzzer. Time after time she found way to get to the basket using very good poise and creativity while sacrificing her body for the punishment that was to be expected. Her quickness on offence put pressure on Loyola defence. She played very good on the ball defence against each guard she competed against.

Hayley Robertson
Robertson had to bring out her athleticism to deal with the quickness of the speedy Pickering guards. Her ability to breakdown defences
to make good decisions was tested against Pickering in their Quarter Final game. She had to deal with all four athletic guards on each play, and was equal to the task by setting up scoring possibilities for her teammates and having to deal with 90 feet of pressure.

Jaelyne Kirkpatrick
Kirkpatrick has continued her stellar play from the summer travelling to Centennial College High School Tournament. Loyola used Kirkpatrick sparingly in the first two games, however, her timely scoring and leadership was shining during the match up against Notre Dame (Ajax). Notre Dame (Ajax) was able to defend Kirkpatrick with two high level point guards. Kirkpatrick was still able to set up her teammates for easy baskets with timely passing. In the second half with Loyola trailing Kirkpatrick put the scoring on her back and took over the lead only to have it taken away from them during the later part of the game.
