alex-hayAlex Hay (5’8″, PG, Eastview, 2014) of Barrie, ON has verbally committed to attend NCAA, Division 2’s Seton Hill University in Greensburg, PA for the Fall of 2014.

“I just felt great on campus and the school is a great fit academically for me,” said Hay via press release. “I had a chance to practice with the team and get to know the girls a bit and that really helped me make my decision.”

On defense, Hay’s continual vocal direction ensure’s everyone on her squad knows where they are to be and is always on the lookout for preventing breakdowns in coverage. On offense, she is a sure handed Guard that tends to facilitate for others, making sure they are given their best opportunity to score. When not referring to her first option to create for others, Hay has demonstrated the ability to get hot from long range and can take any given real estate given up by the defense with timely drives.

The meshing of the skills she brings to the table, and the style of play that the Griffins will be playing, played an integral role in her decision making.

“I really like their up-tempo style of play and I’m grateful for the chance to prove myself at the next level.”

The PG has already completed her final high school season this past Fall with her Eastview Wildcats, which was accented by a 21 point performance to help her team win the GBSSA (Georgian Bay Secondary Schools Association) berth to the Ontario provincial high school championships (OFSAA), where they made it to the Quarter-Finals. She now has her sights set on her third and final season with her Barrie Royals rep team.

Hay has also spent her summers playing for Team Ontario and for Canada Drive and is grateful for the Coaches at all levels that have impacted her game, while looking forward to start of something new with one more.

“I have been blessed with a lot of great coaches over the years and I look forward to playing for Coach Katarski for the next four. This is his first season at Seton Hill so I am part of his first recruiting class. It’s a great opportunity for me.”
