Injuries Force Moran (’18) To ‘Change Directions’

Kate Moran (3-stars, 6’2”, F) of Waterloo, ON has announced her intentions to step away from the game of basketball due to injuries that she just couldn’t overcome.

Moran, who is rated as a top-30 prospect in her Class, had transferred to TRC Academy in Brantford, ON at the start of the 2016-2017 school year with the hopes of recovering from an earlier knee injury. But due to several unforeseen setbacks, had seen minimal playing time over the past 12-18months, including an attempt to return to the game action earlier this year.

Her announcement, which she had posted on twitter reads as follows:

After 2 knee surgeries and my best effort to return to playing basketball, it looks like my playing days are most likely over. There is a significant amount of missing or damaged cartilage and the remaining cartilage is being damaged further in training. Unfortunately this is cartilage that cannot be repaired.

“Thanks to my medical team, coaches, trainers, teammates, friends and family for all of your love and support. I am a blessed to have met so many amazing people along my journey. My journey was a short run, full of memorable experiences, accomplishments and life lessons. However, it doesn’t end here, my path is only changing directions and I will stay involved in the game!”

Among the nicest people one could meet, she went on to continue to communicate that she has plans of putting on a brave face to the road ahead.

She summarized her post, with a saying that is likely to keep near and dear to her going forward:
