Hudyn Ready to Lead A-Game To Peach State Elite 32

As of right now, Michelle Hudyn’s (6’2″, PF, Eastwood Collegiate, 2012) days of flying just under the radar may very well be behind her. Especially after a great showing at the Run for the Roses Tournament in Lexington, Kentucky the weekend of July 9-11, 2011, where she raised quite a few eyebrows. This Kitchener, Ontario native led the A-Game squad to a 3-1 record with wins over SMAC Lady Rebels, Baseline Elite and Houston Wildcat Elite.

“There has been tons of intrest from multiple NCAA Division 1 schools after how well she has played” says her A-Game Coach Yaw Afful, referring to her play in the Kentucky Tournament, “and I expect the interest to continue growing especially after our trip to Georgia.”  The trip Afful is referring to, revolves around the Peach State Elite 32 Summer Jam, which will be played in front of 150 expected college coaches.  Being in that tournament comes with a distinguished honour for the two participating A-Game squads (A-Game T-Dot and A-Game Canada), who will have the distinction of being the first Canadian entries ever to be participating.

Playing high calibre, pressure situations and coming out successful is nothing new to Hudyn.  She and her Kitchener-Waterloo Lightning club team were 2010 Ontario Basketball provincial champions and 2011 JUEL silver medalists.  But, that was the past.  The Peach State Elite 32 will shine a new spotlight on her and her teamates as they face tough American foes. In getting ready for this challenge,  Hudyn feels she knows what to expect from her American foes. “The competitionis a lot tougher”, she concedes.  “They play a lot more aggressive.”

Realizing that she will need to continue to work on being more explosive with her leaping and while she is making her moves in the paint, the rest of her summer will consist of getting a personal trainer to work on the fitness aspect and conditioning, working on windsprints and jogging and definitely hitting the weights.  And, with the long term possibility of her playing post secondary basketball stateside, adding to her already strong fundamental base is a priority.  “They’re a lot stronger down in the States, and it is just a quicker game. You just have to be on your toes and more physical.”

The two A-Game squads will be participating in the Peach State Elite 32 Summer Jam July 26-28, 2011.
