Alex Klein is D1 Bound; Headed to Bryant for 2013
“Everything about Bryant blew me away. The girls were like my sisters, the campus is absolutely beautiful, and the basketball and academic aspects are strong,” said Klein who hails from the Kitchener-Waterloo area of Ontario, obviously taken aback by how good a fit Bryant was for her, during her campus visit.
Klein was a key contributor to her high school team’s success last season, helping the Waterloo Vikings to an undefeated run in district play. Despite a Fourth place finish at the OFSAA (Ontario High School) 4A Championships to close out the 2011 season, Klein will look again to anchor the Vikings’ roster that is poised to make another solid run again this year.
Klein brings a hockey player’s mentality to the hardcourt when mixing it up in the paint. She doesn’t shy away from contact and brings grit that will allow her to not only take punishment, but also dish it out as well. It’s a trait that she knows she will be looked upon to bring day-in and day-out as a Bryant Bulldog.
“My physicality, aggressiveness and toughness will be my strengths. In the post, that is what differentiates me from the other Forwards.”
Through the jubilation of what is a very proud moment in her career, Klein took a moment to reflect on just some of those that helped to pave the way for a chance such as this.
“My rep coach, Bob Urosevic (K-W Lightning), high school coaches, Doug Ranton and Craig Nickel, as well as every A-Game coach from the past 2 summers were my supporters from the very beginning. I am blessed to have such an opportunity.”
Klein, who will pursue a Business Major, will join A-Game AAU teammate, Chanel Ramcharran (5’5”, PG, Dunbarton, 2013) who also made the decision to become a Byrant Bulldog for the 2013 season.
