Christine Jurcau Decides To Stay Close To Home
(3-stars, 5’6″, PG, Bayview SS/North Toronto Huskies) of Richmond Hill, ON has decided to stay close to home and attend the University of Toronto for the Fall of 2017.
“I’m very excited to join the Varsity Blues this fall”, Jurcau told us when asked about her commitment.
“I know I will be challenged and pushed to my limits on and off the court.”
Jurcau is a smart Point Guard that will be relied upon to make sure the ball gets distributed effectively by the Varsity Blues squad she will be joining. She is a continual long distance threat with her ability to get hot beyond the arc as a 3-point shooter and has been found to be crafty in the way that she has found opportunities to get to the hole. Her increased ability to defend opposing ball handlers will be where she will be invaluable throughout her university career.
Already having a good rapport with her future coaches that she will be entrusting to take her game to the next level and connecting with future teammates, bodes well for her transition to the next level.
“I have built good relationships with the coaching staff and the team gave me a strong sense of family, making me feel like home.”
A major component the decision made by the York Region all-star to become a U of T Varsity Blue, was how she was able to parlay the opportunity to play post secondary ball and be able to learn at a top notch undergrad program, setting herself up for a solid foundation for her career.
“From the time I decided I wanted to study business as a student-athlete, my focus has been on universities with business schools offering strong management programs, which is what I intend to pursue at the next level”, said Jurcau.
How confident is Jurcau with the decision she has made? Jurcau states it like this:
“With the strong support system U of T has for its student-athletes, I know I will be able to overcome anything.”
