Cyanna King (5’11”, F, St Mary’s/Advantage Titans, 2017) of Pickering, ON has signed her Letter of Intent to attend York University in Toronto, ON

“I feel like there has been a big weight lifted off my shoulders because I was deciding between different schools to see which one was right for me”, said King, relieved that the school selection process is now over. “And, I honestly think that York fits that description for me.”

King is the type of player that does not shy away from contact. She excels in the paint and isn’t afraid to hustle for loose rebounds in order to afford her team second and third opportunities on goal. Her Post game is continuing to develop, which bodes well for what it is that she is expecting when she suits up for the Lions in the CIS this Fall.

“They run through their bigs a lot,” said King about the Lions’ style of play. “And, I feel that I can really help them out through more of their plays.”

King has been impressed on her visits and throughout the recruiting process about the family type of atmosphere she has felt from the team, and particularly from Head Coach Erin McAleenan.

That connection with Coach McAlennan that all but solidified the choice for King.

“She’s very friendly, I like her coaching style. She not afraid to say certain things. I feel like I can relate to her.”

King intends on Majoring in Children’s Studies with an eye on a career in teaching.
