King To Join 49ers This Fall

Justina King (4-stars, 5’7″, PG) of Scarborough, ON has committed to attend Long Beach State University in Long Beach, CA for the Fall of 2018.

King will join the 49ers of the NCAA Big West Conference, after making the cross continent transfer to Ribet Academy in Los Angeles, CA to complete her Senior year at the Pacific coast prep school. At Ribet, King had benefitted from the increased exposure of her game to a completely different audience than the more East Coast audience she was used to playing in front of.

Besides being very a coachable and perceptive player, King is also a good I.Q. for the game. With her perceptive skills, she can often inject what the coach is looking for into a game and act as the coach’s extension while on the floor. King is methodical to her offensive approach, choosing her moments wisely as to when to strike on offence, although she has shown that she is able to score in bunches as the game permits. On the other side of the ball, King is very much a defensive disrupter to the point where she is among the best in her Canadian Class.

The commitment to Long Beach settles the consideration that King had been wrestling with as she decided whether she would come out as a true 2018, or whether she would reclassify with the Class of 2019.

Besides the interest from school in the Eastern Time zone such as Cincinnati and UMASS, her transfer to the West Coast prep school helped her garner interest from Washington, University of California-Santa Barbara and Hawaii prior to deciding on ‘The Beach’ as the location where she will continue her education.

Prior to making Prep move away from her Ontario home, King was ranked in our top 10 Canadian players in the Class of 2018. She attended Bill Crothers where she played with the Colts in the OSBA prep league, played in the JUEL rep league with the Advantage Titans and had attended Canada Basketball tryouts.
