Kabunda Pours In 26 As Express Defeat Rivals Pagé
The Express used their size to their advantage, feeding the ball inside often to Kabunda. Taisha Exanor, who like Kabunda, benefitted from her inside work and at the Foul Line, added 20 for the Express.
The additional element that Exanor was able to bring to the game than benefitted the Express, was her ability to hit the long ball. She connected on three 3-pointers for her team, who always seemed to have an answer for Pagé.
Pagé in able to make as much of a dent inside as they may have like, leaned heavily on perimeter shooting, connecting on ten 3-pointers. Lisa Tesson hit four of those three pointers several of them well back of the 3-point line.
Promising Point Guard, Sarah Te-Biasu, who appeared to relish the big time atmosphere nailed three 3-pointers of her own and dress oohs and ahhs from the crowd with her ball handling and her ability to get to the hole.
In the end, the Express was just too much for a shortened Pagé bench, featuring a smaller lineup, as they extended a 36-31 halftime lead, into their eventual 20 victory.
There was a lot of hype going into this rivalry game. With these two programs that have a bit of boundary overlap in Montreal, their fans came out in droves to support their respective sides. It created a loud atmosphere for the established successful Express, secure the win against the young, upstart Pagé program.
