Helena Lasic of Brampton, ON has committed to attend the University of Pennsylvania, an Ivy League school located in Philadelphia, PA.

Lasic, who former played with both the Brampton Warrior and Team Ontario, has gone the American prep route for the past couple of years, ultimately landing at New Hope Academy in Maryland.

Lasic is a lengthy presence in the paint on both ends of the floor. She has a game with her back to the basket, including a pretty good ability to leverage ball fakes lean on counters, should her original move be met with resistance. On defence she has some shot blocking ability, but more frequently demonstrates good lateral mobility to stay close enough to opponents in order to alter their shot trajectory and thereby decreasing their shooting odds.

Before ultimately deciding on committing to the Penn Quakers, Lasic also considered strong interest from James Madison, among other schools.

Lasic last played her AAU summer ball with the DMV Lady Tigers, also based out of the Maryland area.

In the excitement of her decision, it is clear that she is ready to make an immediate impact when she sets foot on campus next Fall. In her announcement via social media, she showed she is ready for the challenge boldy declaring “Ivy League, I’m coming for you”.
