Mikaela Brewer To Play In The Pac-12
Mikaela Brewer
“I come from a big family, so I’m very family oriented,” Brewer told CROWN. “So, I’d like to play for a team that is very much like that.”
Athleticism is one of Brewer’s key assets. Her long stride gives her the ability for great speed, which lends itself well when looking to find separation in the open court. It also sets her up well for a quick first step when she is looking to create scoring opportunities.
With a nagging shoulder injury suffered just after making the Junior National Team this summer, but prior to actually leaving with the team to head out to Russia, Brewer has been itching to get back to 100% to continue to improve on her game and finish off her Senior year firing on all cylinders.
For Brewer however, it is not just about what takes place on the court that she is concerned with. Getting a Stanford degree is perfect for this Guard, seeking a career in the Medical profession.
“I take pride in my schoolwork. I’m taking my sciences at a really high level right now and I’m hoping that I might be going into medicine, although I haven’t totally made up my mind.”
With her high school season now coming to a close Brewer will set her sights on continued training in preparation for the rep season in the new year, and her one last opportunity at a high school Gold Medal in 100m sprints or the 4x100m relays in late Spring.
