On March 3, 2013, the Montmorency Nomades defeated the Dawson College Blues by a score of 50-45 to claim the Quebec CEGEP Provincial Finals.

Montmorency entered into these Championships in Fifth Place, and had to beat many of the league’s top teams in order to win the Championship. Along the way they had to beat (4)Edouard Montpetit (57-46), (3)St-Foy (63-59) before eventually taking out the top ranked Blues.

For her efforts, the Nomad’s Marika Guerin (5’4″, PG, 2014) was named Finals MVP as well as MVP of the Championships

The loss was Dawson’s only setback of the whole season. The Blues had a flawless 18-0 regular season record and looked poised to remain unbeaten after their win over hosts (6)Champlain St-Lambert (72-57) in the Semi-Finals after having a Quarter-Final bye.

The Bronze Medal was awarded to the (3)St-Foy Dynamiques after they defeated hosts (6)Champlain St-Lambert 78-69.

Both teams in the Finals received automatic births to the CCAA Canadian Women’s National Championships taking place in Turo, Nova Scotia, March 14-16. Montmorency go in to those Finals as the Number 1 seed, while Dawson has been slotted in at Number 3.

At the National Championships, Quebec teams have been dominant. A team from that province winning the last seven Canadian CCAA titles.
