Sarah Traynor To Play With Dalhousie Tigers

Sarah Traynor (5’4”, PG, Loyola, 2013) of the Oakville Venom JUEL team has committed to play for the Dalhousie University Tigers of the CIS in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

“From the first time I set foot on the court with the Tigers, I knew that this was where I wanted to play for the next four years,” said Traynor via press release. “Together with Coach Anna, the girls made it easy for me to envision a positive experience and a great career at Dalhousie. I love the way the girls move the ball! Coach Anna made it clear that I am a student first and an athlete second and the staff at Dalhousie made me feel great about coming to a truly world-class university.”

Traynor, was a vocal team leader for the Venom this past year helped guide the rep team to a Third place regular season finish. For the AUS region Tigers, she will bring a good basketball IQ to the Point Guard position and a proven ability to not only protect the ball, but make good decisions as well. Traynor also shown that she has the ability to get hot beyond the arc with her 3-point shooting ability and can on occasion take it to the hole as she proved this past high school season with Loyola, leading her team in scoring.

“Sarah’s a great fit for the Tigers as she’s a top student and a strong leader on and off the court, with great point guard experience,”says Dalhousie Tigers’ Women’s Head Coach, Anna Stammberger. “She’s an outstanding defender who will immediately improve and increase our depth in the guard position.”

Looking to Major in Commerce, Traynor is a well rounded individual who has excelled in all facets of life including not only the court, but in the classroom and the community. She is an Honor Roll student this year and is the recent recipient of the 2013 JUEL league Community Service Award.
