St Mary Defends Home Tournament Tournament Title
On September 29, 2013, The St Mary Crusaders of Hamilton, Ontario defended the St Mary’s Senior Girls Tip-Off Classic Tournament Championship with a 70-39 win over Eastview Wildcats.
In winning the 16 team tournament that they host, the Crusaders also defended their Championship after winning last year as well.
In the Semi-Finals, St Mary who emerged as the winner of Pool A, defeated Pope John Paul II of Scarborough, ON, the Pool D winner, by a score of 65-37. The other Semi saw Pool C winner, the Eastview Wildcats from Barrie, ON, beating Pool B’s Loyola of Oakville, ON by a closer 54-45 result.
Senior Hilary Hanaka (St Mary) was named tournament MVP. Teammate Christina Buttenham was named a Tournament All-Star.
Other tournament All-Stars include Eastview’s Samantha Loucks and Megan Smith, along with Loyola’s Sam Pocrnic and Cheyenne Creighton of Pope John Paul II.
