On March 6, 2016 the Ste-Foy Dynamiques defeated the Montmorency Nomades by a score of 87-76 to claim the CÉGEP championships taking place in Gatineau, QC.

The Dynamiques were led in scoring by Laurie Marchand. Marchand led all scorers with 22 points, including 16 in the second half. Isaève Sirois also scored 14 for Ste-Foy, a suburb of Quebec City, QC.

After a very close first half that saw the Nomades lead by three after the first quarter, and by two at half time, the Dynamiques began to assert themselves. They went on a 17-4 run to end the third up by 10, 59-49.

Montmorency showed some fight in the fourth, on the strength of two 3-pointers from Sophomore Juliette Gauthier (16 points) and four points from Maine commit, Julie Brosseau (15 points) and reversing the score to 67-61 in their favour. That lead would be short lived as the tide turned once more, leading to the ultimate 87-76 scoreline, giving Ste-Foy the victory.

With the win, the Ste-Foy Dynamiques reclaim the Quebec title, and put the brakes on Montmorency’s hopes of three-peating, after winning the last two championships.

Both teams move on to the right team National championships that take place later this month in Windsor, ON.
