Diakhate (‘22) Now A Bulldog

Fatima Diakhate (6’5”, P, Montverde Academy) of Coral Springs, FL has committed to attend the University of Georgia for the Fall of 2022.

Although Diakhate calls Florida home, she holds Canadian citizenship and attended the Capital Courts Academy Prep school in Ottawa, ON during the 2019-2020 season. She stands at a very solid 6’5” and immediately was a daunting presence in the paint in their league games. She may have looked to have continued attending the Ottawa school that helped to grow her confidence and improved her skill in a number of areas, had it not been for COVID. Instead, she opted to stay closer to home for her Junior and Senior years because of that uncertainty, choosing to attend Montverde Academy in Montverde, FL.

As a part of the FIBA Americas U16 event that took place in June 2019 in Chile, Diakhate represented the Canadian National Team by playing in 5 out of the 6 games they played. The highlight game for her in the event was an 8 point, 5 rebound performance where she also added 2 steals and 2 blocked shots in 14 minutes of play against Puerto Rico.

Diakhate originally committed to attend the University of Central Florida, but de-committed in order to play with the SEC (Southeastern Conference) Bulldogs.
