Arije Commits To Fighting Irish

Avery Arije (6’0″, G, Crestwood Prep/Mission United, 2027) of Mississauga, ON has verbally committed to attend the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, IN, of NCAA’s Atlantic Coast Conference.

Arije chose the Fighting Irish over Duke, Cal, Penn State and Maryland.

The left-handed guard is at her best attacking downhill, with the ability to get to the rim off the dribble in either direction and finish with either hand once she gets there. She has often been asked to run the point for her team, and her feel as a playmaker shows in her unselfish reads and her use of change of pace to keep defenders off balance.

At the 2025 FIBA U16 Women’s AmeriCup, Arije averaged 13.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game to earn All-Star Five honours as Canada claimed silver.  She followed that up a year later on Canada’s U17 Women’s National Team with 12.3 points, 4.7 rounds and 3.4 assists at the 2026 FIBA U17 Women’s Basketball World Cup in Brno, Czechia.

The Irish advanced to the NCAA Tournament’s Elite Eight.
