The Blessed Sacrament Yellow Jackets defeated the Etobicoke Storm by a score of 86-39 in JUEL, Session 3 action on February 4, 2012.

Despite the Yellow Jackets jumping out to a quick 8-2 lead, the Storm managed to keep the game within striking distance early. The effective use of their height and strength inside the paint was the Storm’s key to keeping the game to within four points after the First Quarter. The Storm’s Kristen Osborne (5’8″, G/F, 2013) led the Storm with 5 points, but saw the Blessed Sacrament lead 16-12 to start the Second Quarter.

An obvious game plan for the Yellow Jackets was pushing the pace of the game. Their exceptional speed, coupled with quick, back-to-back 3-Pointers to start off the Second Quarter from Alexis Spadafora (5’9″, G, 2013) and Danielle Boiago (5’8″, G, 2012) pushed the lead to 23-12. It was the beginning of a run that saw the wheels fall off for the Storm as the Yellow Jackets would go on a 46-14 run over the next two quarters, as they would cruise towards the eventual 86-39 win.

Boiago, who has tremendous upside, showed explosive speed throughout the game.  She left many Storm defenders, flat-footed on route to a game high 27 points. Sydney Stewart (5’9″, G, 2012), who had a great deal of success driving and dishing to create for her teammates, managed to score 12 of her own. Spadafora also contributed 10 points throughout the game for the Yellow Jackets.

Kristen Osborne was the only Storm player that managed double digits in scoring, putting up 10.

Blessed Sacrament, from Hamilton, ON, improves to 2-1 this JUEL season.  Etobicoke falls to 0-4.
