Junior Kia Nurse Selected for Senior National Team

Hamilton, Ontario’s Kia Nurse (6’0″, PG, Transway, 2014) has been selected to showcase her skills and play with the Canadian Senior Women’s National Basketball team (SWNT).

Earning a spot in the team is a huge feat for Nurse who still only finishing up her Junior year of high school. And, while the Class of 2014 Guard is still undecided about where she will complete her post secondary education, the list of interested schools looking to attain her services will undoubtedly continue to grow in this, her most anticipated summer.

Nurse had just come off of a great showdown for the JUEL Championship Finals just a week prior to the start SWNT invitational Try-Out, that just so happened to take place at McMaster University in her hometown from May 17-19.

Nurse will be running up the frequent flyer miles this summer starting off with the this tour with the Senior squad. With exhibition games scheduled in Prague against hosts Czech Republic on May 28 and 29, the SWNT is also scheduled to play in mini-tournaments in Serbia on May 31 to June 2 (vs Serbia, Italy and Montenegro) and in France from June 7 to 9 (against France Spain and Turkey).
