The North Toronto Huskies continued hot streak winning 67-48 over the Ottawa Capitals and improving to 4-0 in their final exhibition tune-up before the start of their 2012 JUEL regular season.

The Huskies hit shots from all over the floor, essentially forcing the spread of the Capitals’ defense. Five Huskies connected from long range in the First Half, including bigs Cheyanne Roger (6’2″, F, 2013) and Savanna Hamilton (6’1″, F, 2013) adding further challenges for Ottawa’s defense. Add in a couple of long 2s from Oceana Hamilton (6’3″, F, 2013)and the defense had no choice but to step out on them when they had the ball. That opened up lanes to drive to the basket for the speedy Sam Hill (5’9″, G, 2012) who led North Toronto with 10 points at the Halftime break. The Capitals’ defense had to learn really quickly that Hill’s long strides and fiesty play wasn’t something to take lightly.

Catherine Traer (6’1″, F, 2012), who always seemed to be a threat in this game, used her length and shooting ability to lead her team with 9 first half points, but the 45-21 halftime lead proved to be insurmountable for the Capitals. Despite a 12 point Fourth Quarter performance by Traer, her team would go on to loose 67-48. Traer, who has committed to attend the University of Ottawa in the Fall, ended her quality outing with 21 points, including three 3-pointers and shooting 4-for-4 at the Free-Throw line.

North Toronto was led in scoring by Cheyanne Roger’s 15 points, Sami Hill’s 12 points and Kayla Gardner’s (5’9″, G/F, 2012) 10.
