Team White’s Masikewich Leads Squad To Inaugural Biosteel Win

On March 31, 2019, the inaugural Biosteel All Canadian Girls Game, featuring 24 of the country’s best female high school players, saw Team White defeat Team Red by a score of 112-78 at the University of Toronto.

Brynn Masikewich of Calgary, AB was named Team White’s MVP, scoring 16 points for he victors and 9 rebounds.

Grade 11 top prospect, Aaliyah Edwards led Team White in scoring with 17, as a part of a balanced attack which saw 6 Team White players score in double figures in the game.

Latasha Lattimore (14), Rebecca Demeke (12), Micah Dennis (12), and Callie Wright (11) were also key point getters in the winning effort.

The game high scorer belonged to Merissah Russell, Team Red’s MVP, who scored a game high 30, followed by sophomore Shayeann Day-Wilson who netted 14.

On the night, it was Team White capitalizing off of hustle plays, seeing themselves to a 81-52 rebounding benefit including a 27-13 offensive rebounding advantage. Forward, Sarah Clarke and Point Guard, Micah Dennis each had 8 Edwards had 7 as did Kiandra Browne and Donna Ntambue. Wright and Lattimore also contributed with 6 boards of their own.

Leading rebounders for Team Red were Russell who collected 10, Sammie Martin who had 8 and Yvonne Ejim with 7.
