Tsumura Basketball Invitational Results

On Sunday, December 2, 2012, the Tsumura Basketball Invitational in Langley, British Columbia (B.C.) featured a couple of high profiled Senior Girls’ showcase games to help four of B.C.’s top teams some early exhibition actin prior to the start of their upcoming season.

The showcase was host to four of the teams ranked in the top 10 of the B.C. Senior Girl’s pre-season rankings including the (6)Riverside Rapids, the (T-2)Oak Bay Breakers, the (T-2)Brookswood Bobcats and the defending B.C. Provincial Champions, the (1)South Kamloops Titans.

In the earlier game, the Oak Bay defeated the Riverside by a score of 51-49. Lauren Yearwood led all scorers with some impressive numbers for the win for the Breakers, including 17 points, 21 rebounds and 6 blocks. The Rapids were led in scoring by Shea Sanchez’s 13 points and 12 apiece from both Fiona Beals and Dani Antiginani.

The second game saw an upset of sorts as Brooskwood knocked off top ranked South Kamloops with a 71-58 win. The Bobcats’ Jessie Brown scored 24 points while teammate Sydney Williams contributed 13. Gonzaga commit, Emma Wolfram had a double-double for the Titans with 19 rebounds to go along with her team high 16 points. The Titans also had Anna Frenkel and Maya Olynyk scored 15 each in the loosing cause.

These girls’ games, were part of a larger event that saw matchups between several top ranked BC boys teams, and also included a couple of games from the visiting Findlay Prep Pilots (Henderson, NV) boys team.
