Becky Nash Commits to St Mary’s In Halifax for Fall 2012

On May 2, 2012, Becky Nash (6’4″, C, Pickering HS, 2012) decided to commit to St Mary’s University in Halifax, Nova Scotia to become a Huskie this Fall.

Nash, using her great height, is always a threat to reject shots on the defensive end and alter far more that she isn’t able to get to.  Her reach gives her a definite advantage for gobbling up rebounds on both ends and on the offensive glass she is primed for completing putbacks.

“Overall, I don’t think there’s a better fit”, she said, all too happy about her choice.

In early March, St Mary’s finished 3 in the Atlantic University Sport (AUS) Conference of the CIS (Canadian Interuniversity Sport), but were upset by the Dalhousie Tigers in the Conference Quarter-Finals.

Nash is not a stranger to success.  Just last summer, she was a part of the U17 Team Ontario squad that won National Gold Medal.  She was also a part of the Pickering HS team that claimed a 4A OFSAA (Ontario High School) Bronze Medal this past Fall, co-leading her team in scoring with 16 points in that 3rd Place game.

Nash said that her final decision came down to choice between Cape Breton University in Sydney, Nova Scotia and St Marys.  But, also in consideration were University of New Brunswick, Acadia, Bishops, Ryerson, Carelton and Laurier.
