BUZZ: Pope John Paul II Wins 2013 SBA Tournament

On October 20, 2013 the Pope John Paul II Panthers (Scarborough, ON) defeated the Notre Dame Cougars (Ajax, ON) by a score of 52-44 to claim the Senior Division of the SBA Tournament on Toronto, ON.
In the Final, Danielle Garven scored a game high 18 points on her way to tournament MVP honours for Pope John Paul II. The Cougars’ Iziegbe Enabulele led her team with 13 in the loosing cause.

In the Junior Division the Grand River Renegades (Kitchener, ON) defeated the Notre Dame Jr Cougars (Ajax, ON) 35-27. The Renegades’ Maya Day led her team with 14 points in the Finals, while teammate Nancy Michael scored all of her 13 points in the First Half. The two Grade 10 players earned Tournament Team All-Star and Tournament MVP individual awards respectively.
For the Jr Cougars, Grade 9 Jalisa Simons also earned Tournament All-Star team honours, and was the only player on her team to score in double digits with put 16 points in the Final.
