Eastern Commerce Saints Defeat Bill Crothers Colts

On October 17, 2011, in a mid season exhibition game between the Eastern Commerce Saints and the Bill Crothers Colts’ X team, the Saints prevailed 56-48.

The Saints were led by a 24 point performance from Sami Hill including four 3-pointers. Vaneil Simpson added 15 points and Tayla Gibb had 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The Colts’ Lindsay Shotbolt, led her team with 22 points in the loosing cause in a game that was played in the Crothers’ gym.

The game, which featured two Greater Toronto Area Top 10 ranked teams, used 24 second shot clocks which overall seemed to favor the Saints’ style of fast paced offense and high pressure on defense. Despite being an overall taller team, the Colts seemed to rely heavily on outside shooting as numerous unsuccessful entry pass attempts and turnovers due to the Saints’ pressure, prevented them from benefitting from that advantage.
