Jegede Now Big East Bound

Abigail (Abby) Jegede of Toronto, ON has committed to attend Villanova University next Fall.

The decision comes as signing period approaches, and comes off the back of some pretty strong showings so far to start off the year for the Grade 13 returnee.

Jegede has ideal length for her position and moves well with or without the ball. She is a slasher that does well to get to spots, usually making good things happen when she has the ball in her hands. She poses as a scoring threat and tends to draw attention to herself from the opposition. That’s where her good I.Q. allows her the ability to make a good read and unselfishly set up a teammate if necessary.

As she completes her final year at King’s Christian, the Guard who has been on Team Canada’s radar for a number of years, will look to continue to further solidify her offensive game. By being even more of a more sure fire scorer at all three levels, she will then continue to set herself up to being a solid Wildcat and look to make some noise in the NCAA’s Big East Conference.

Jegede’s decision puts an end to a bit of a roller coaster recruitment process. The process saw her originally commit to Purdue. The following season was then wiped out due to COVID, delaying the finalization of her development. The impact there was that she was forced to reclassify and re-open her recruiting once again. All of this before resuming her development this past summer with the Canada Elite U17s on the Under Amour Circuit and ultimately securing the offer and then committing to the Philadelphia-area university.

Prior to making her initial commitment, Jegede had interest from Rutgers, Nebraska Robert Morris and Bowling Green.
