On June 2, 2012, top point Guard, Julia Soriano (5’5″, PG, North Toronto, 2012) informed CROWN that she has decided to sign on to attend the University of Ottawa this September.

Soriano is a high intensity Guard that brings a lot of speed and a Floor General’s mentality. She has very good basketball intelligence and excels at creating opportunities for her teammates.

Soriano helped to lead her North Toronto Huskies in the JUEL Semi-Finals and was a major contributor to their eventual JUEL Championship win in May as a co-captain and her Michael Power high school to a Toronto District Catholic (TDCAA) title last November. Later on this week, she will represent Michael Power at the OFSAA (Ontario) Provincial Track and Field Championships in the Long Jump Event.

Along with the interest shown by the Gee-Gees, Soriano had also been courted by Queens, Windsor and McGill.

The Gee-Gees Class of 2012 recruits also includes top prospect Catherine Traer (6’1″, F, Louis Riel, 2012). Traer made her decision to attend the University of Ottawa back in early December 2011.
