On May 24, 2014, the JUEL Prep League held it’s All-Star Game at Ryerson University in downtown Toronto, ON.

The game showcased the best U15s of the league’s inaugural season, in a format that divided the field among Freshmen (Grade 9s) vs Sophomores (Grade 10s).

KW Lightning’s Julianna Thomson led all scorers with 12 points en route to being picked as the game’s MVP.

julianna-thomsonSophomore starters Mikaela Dodig, Nyamouch Teny, Halle Bovell, Mackenzie Trpcic and Julianna Thomson, set the pace early in this game against the Freshmen starters in Hailey Brown, Michelle Istead, Hannah Hall Aiden Rainford and Claire Litchfiled, as the Sophomores jumped out to a 14-6 lead by the end of the first quarter and maintained at halftime with the score 28-17.

The slow pace that the game started off with quickly vanished in the second half as jitters started to settle down and players got accustomed to each other coming out of the locker room.

With the game far more competitive, the Freshmen, turned it up a notch. They managed to find ways to close the gap to as little as 6, but the Sophomores possessed too much will to be defeated by their younger foes, and took the game by a score of 52-40.

The Freshmen were led in scoring by Alyssa Jerome and Hailey Brown who each scored 7.
