The University of Fraser Valley Cascades have proven that they have been able to cultivate and retain at a high level, in their own backyard. Earlier this week the Cascades were able to sign five local, Class of 2015 prospects early in their Grade 12 year.

Twins Alicia and Cierra Roufosse, Taylor Claggett, Amanda Thompson and Kate Head have each pledged to attend the Abbotsford, BC University for the Fall of next year. The move immediately vaults the CIS school to the top of the recruiting 2015 CIS Class. And although it is early on in the CIS recruiting process, the level of talent these recruits bring, other CIS schools will be hard pressed to match this feat.

Coming in are twin 6’3″ Forwards, Alicia and Cierra Roufosse. Each had received interest from NCAA D1 schools before the University’s rep/travel team program circled the wagons to ensure the prized talents remained in their system. Both sisters use their size well, and have proven that they are capable of playing at a high level. Alicia can play through contact in the paint and executes a solid repertoire of Post moves. While Cierra, is able to stretch things out by using her long frame from 10+ feet out, to use a nice shooters touch.

Taylor Claggett will also be a force in the CIS’ Pacific Division where she’ll look to implement good skill with the ball, along with a very high competitive level. She is very strong and has shown that she makes the most of being an aggressive rebounder, which leads to her opportunities of converting second chance points.

Rounding out the group of five are Amanda Thompson and Kate Head. They will be key contributors to the Fraser Valley team that finished last season with a 19-5 record, which included an exhibition win over Western Washington of NCAA’s Div 2, a First place CIS Pacific Division finish in the standings, and an over all CIS Final Eight Bronze Medal.
