Lafond Signs To Stay Close To Home

Emilie Lafond (6’3″, P, 2021) of Hanmer, ON has signed on to attend Laurentian University in Sudbury, ON next Fall.

Lafond is a solid 6’3” Post player that could very quickly become the cornerstone of the Voyageurs and could do so for years to come. She has a decent set of hands and is pretty consistent in finishing down in the low post when she gets the chance to turn. Defensively her size and discipline to allows her presence to be felt, either by physical positioning or with an extended arm to block shots, will ensure that she marks her territory in the paint as quite unwelcoming to intruders throughout her university career.

Besides her time at Lo Ellen Prep, also based out of Sudbury, Lafond suited up for a couple of high profile travel teams. In the summer of 2019, she did double duty, playing with both Kia Nurse Elite through July, and suiting up for Team Ontario for the Canadian National Championships in August.
