Martin To Join Huskies in Fall of ‘19

Sammie Martin (6’2”, F, 2019) of Sudbury, ON has committed to attend Northeastern University for the Fall of 2019, and play in NCAA’s Colonial Athletic Association.

Martin’s stock had really begun to rise during her 2017-18 school year. The rise coincided with the decision that saw her move more than 5 hours away, from her northern Ontario home, to attend Southwest Prep Academy located in London, ON. There, playing in the Ontario Scholastic Basketball Association, she was a standout forward for the Southwest.

Her strengths lie in her mid-range game as she is a good shooter from that distance and excels in facing up situations. The Huskies will benefit from her ability to really get hot from that range, where she can score in bunches. Although her perimeter shooting is a work in progress, the decent sized Forward is showing signs of improvement in that area.

Martin spent her summer travel season with A-Game, traveling with them to stops at the Run 4 The Roses in Louisville, KY and The Nationals in Atlanta, GA. She will be closing out her high school career by returning to Southwest Academy, which competes in the Ontario Scholastic Basketball Association.
