Madison Reid (5’10”, W, Carleton Place HS), Emma Kiesekamp (6’1″, F, North Grenville DHS) and Jacey Aikens (5’11”, G/F, Collingwood CI) have each committed to become Carleton University Ravens in the CIS this Fall.

CROWN was able to catch up with the Ottawa, ON school’s Head Coach, Taffe Charles, who was pleased to make the announcement.

Reid, a Senior from Smith Falls, ON, is a highly ranked Wing that can score in bunches. She will no doubt be very much a point of focus for Ravens opponents who will need to know where she is on the floor at all times due to her accuracy and range.
“Madison is one of if not the best shooters I have ever seen come out of high school”, described Taffe of his recruit who had been flying under the radar of many. “She is a very skilled and athletic guard that has a chance to be special.”

“Emma is a superb athlete at her size”, said Charles when asked about how he saw Kiesekamp, who hails from Merrickville, ON, fitting to his plans when she joins the squad.
“She is quick to get off of her feet. She is an excellent shot blocker and has a high ceiling as a basketball player. She will be able to contribute immediately on the defensive end.”

Rounding out the trio of new recruits is Jacey Aikens of the Barrie, ON. Aikens spent the vast majority of her time in the Barrie Royals system, prior to making the switch to playing with Canada Elite. It is that experience, especially when playing on the AAU circuit, that Charles will be looking develop when this third recruit suits up.

“Jacey is someone who has the ability to shoot the basketball. She will help us space the floor on offense. Looking forward to helping her round out all aspects of her game,” he concluded.

The Carleton Ravens finished this past season with a 18-1 record, good enough for a tie for top spot in the 17 team, OUA regional association of the CIS.
