Kendra Van Leeuwen (PG, Tri County Thunder/St John’s College HS, 2016) of Brantford, ON has de-committed from the George Washington Colonials, and has committed to play with the Wisconsin Badgers later this Fall.

The move follows a coaching change with the Colonials.

Head Coach, Johnathan Tsipis, who led the Colonials to a 55-10 record over his four years at the helm, helped the team earn the right to call themselves the current back-to-back champions in NCAA’s A-10 Conference and himself a 2014-2015 Conference Coach of the Year award. He too will now be at Wisconsin for this upcoming season.

The move for Van Leeuwen will now see her play in the Big Ten conference. She will look to fill the shoes of the Badgers’ previous starting Point Guard, Ajax, ON native Dakota Whyte, who graduates this year.

Van Leeuwen remains a top-5 player in the Canadian Class of 2016, and should garner significant consideration for a spot on the Canadian U18 National team this summer that will play at the FIBA Americas Championship this July.
