Burgonio Commits To Stingers
Areej Burgonio (3-stars, 2018) of Toronto, ON has committed to attend the Concordia University in Montreal, QC this Fall to play with the Stingers.
Burgonio is a dynamic Point Guard that currently attends Crestwood Prep. Many have discounted what she may be able to bring to the table just by looking at her 5’4” frame, but what is often overlooked is the fact that she is vocal, has very good leadership abilities and that she plays with lots of energy and hustle. All qualities that one would look for in a Point Guard. Concordia will be gaining a player that more than makes up for any physical shortcomings by giving life to the phrase ‘leaving it all on the court’ when she plays. She has a very good handle and a matching cross-over that keeps opponents guessing whenever she needs to gain separation. Her ability to navigate in tight spaces is another positive, along with her ability to score on all three levels when given the chance, including the ability to get hot behind the arc.
Prior to attending Crestwood, Burgonio previously attended Bishop Allen and has maintained a high level of academic achievement throughout the classroom component of her high school career.
Burgonio will be joining the Stingers of the RSEQ of the Canadian U Sports league after having spent the past couple of summers with the Sister’s Keeper summer travel program.
