Cardinals Dominant In Centennial Tourney-Gold Div. ‘Ship Win

On October 29, 2018, the Cardinal Newman Cardinals from Stoney Creek, ON defeated the Westdale Warriors of Hamilton, ON by a score of 48-36, to claim the 2018 Centennial Colts Classic-Gold Division Championship title.

The win capped off a perfect 4-0 tournament run for the Cardinals. They were dominant in each of the games they played in the event, winning by at least 12 points per game and averaging more than 22 points per victory throughout the event.

Cardinals’ Senior, Tatyana Burke scored 12 points in the Sunday afternoon victory. Her hustle plays such as charges taken and diving for loose ball and scoring contributions in this game and throughout the tournament, earned her the tournament’s Gold Division MVP honour. Her teammate Katunima Mansaray, who score 13 in this game, earned herself a Tournament All-Star Award.

Warriors’ standout Claire Sutherland-Case scored 13 in the Finals loss, but earned herself a Tournament All-Star award her efforts throughout the event.
