Megan Sherwood Headed to TRU For 2012
Megan Sherwood (5’11”, Forward, Riverside, 2012) of Port Coquitlam, BC has decided to commit with Thompson Rivers University Wolfpack in Kamloops, BC for next September.
“Playing basketball at the CIS level has been a dream of mine since I was little and I can’t believe that it is coming true, both athletically and academically.” – Megan Sherwood
Among Sherwood’s shopping list, she was looking for team chemistry and a set of coaches that would not only see the potential in her, but be able to help her achieve it. She believes she found it with the Wolfpack. “When I went for a visit I felt like I was home. The girls were very welcoming and I felt that Scott’s philosophy on his educational and athletic beliefs were the same as mine.” She was referring TRU Head Coach, Scott Reeves, who believes that TRU is in the toughest division in Canadian University Women’s Basketball. A division that is sure to demand Sherwood’s best.
For the remainder of her Senior year, Sherwood is looking to draw on the momentum gained during her summer. She played on BC’s U17 Provincial Team that claimed Silver in Winnipeg, MB in August. In pre-season rankings, her Riverside Rapids are ranked second in the province behind South Kamloops in the hunt for the AAA Title, BC’s top high school prize.
With an eye on majoring in nursing, he newest TRU commit hopes to become a pediatric nurse one day. “I would like to use the [nursing] skills that I learn to help others in need.”
