Vermont’s Canadian Pipeline Taps Robertson
Hayley Robertson (5’7”, PG, Bill Crothers/Brampton Warriors) has made her commitment official by signing a Letter Of Intent to attend the University of Vermont.
“I’m really excited. I looking forward to making an impact as soon as I go there”, said Robertson, who eagerly awaits the chance to make her mark on the NCAA, Division 1 program that plays out of the America East Conference.
“I’m looking forward to getting into the tournament and doing some stuff there.”
Robertson, a native of Toronto, ON, is a highly competitive athlete that brings intensity whenever she’s in the gym. She is a good passer and has proven to also have good handles with the ball. She has demonstrated the ability to hit the open 3-pointer if given the opportunity and will give the Catamounts a good burst of speed in the open court.
Robertson is mindful of how she would like to contribute to the team and will be putting in work to continue to refine her skills on both ends of the floor for when she will finally don a Catamounts jersey.
“I think that I will be a good driver for them. I am working on my 3-point shot, and my defense. I really want to be a lock down defender for them.”
For the incoming Class of 2015, Vermont has made a real splash north of the border with a total of three other Canadians commitments besides Robertson’s, including Lauren Handy and twins, Courtney and Candice Wright.
Having highly successful Canadian, Courtney Pilypaitis as an Assistant on the Catamounts’ staff, and how welcoming the rest of the coaches there made her feel were among the reasons why Robertson settled in on making the choice for Burlington, VT school.
“The coaching staff, the campus, everything really…”
“When I went there, I just knew that it was the place for me.”
With the JUEL rep season right around the corner, Robertson will again play for the Brampton Warriors, who last year finished second in the regular season with a 23-3 record.
An appreciative Robertson would not allow the opportunity to pass without showing some love to those that helped to mold all of who she is, on and off the court.
“I would really like to thank Jodi Gram (Bill Crothers HS Coach), Yaw Afful, Prince [Derrick Edwards] (A-Game coaches) and Coach Hugh Riley and Nya [Daley] (Brampton Warriors rep Coraches) for taking my game to the next level and working with me.” Of course her list of shoutouts would not be complete without mentioning her biggest fans.
“…and my Mom and Dad, my siblings and all of my friends for supporting me and everything!”
