On June 6, 2012, the announcement was made that Victoria Rampado (6’2″, F, Niagara Falls JUEL/A N Myer, 2013) had decided to commit to Niagara University of the NCAA’s MAAC Conference.

“When I went on a visit, I felt really comfortable when I was there”, said Rampado of the University located in Lewiston, New York.

Niagara University is located minutes away from the Canada/U.S. border with the other side of the border being the city of Niagara Falls, Ontario, where she is from, which clinched the choice for her.

The Division 1, Purple Eagles did well to pick one of the top Forwards in the 2013 Canadian Class.  Rampado, is a very solid 6’2″ player whose game shows a good balance between grit and hustle along with a touch of finesse.  She is physically strong and uses that strength often in the paint rebounding and is not afraid to bump or be bumped while playing through contact.  Her dexterity shines through in her ability to drain a 10 footer with ease and while she looks to complete a post move with a slight touch off the glass.

Rampado, sounding relieved when we spoke, was glad with her decision.  Getting it out of the way allows her now to focus on a busy summer of travel and training before her Senior year.

“I decided to sign at the beginning of the season because I didn’t want the pressure of having to deal with making my decision later on.  I have made it now and don’t have to worry about it.”

Canisius, U Mass, Idaho State and Duquesne were some of the other NCAA schools showing interest in Rampado.
