Cockfield Scores 22 vs. Virginia Academy

Kelly Cockfield of Brampton, ON scored 22 points in a standout performance against Virginia Academy at the She Got Game Classic – DC Metro event on December 10, 2021.

Although her Legacy Prep team fell 54-33, Cockfield’s performance was one of her team’s bright spots in the game, as she shouldered a lot of the offensive load. Legacy Prep’s Coach Hugh Riley, described her play as her being a “sharp shooter with a cunning way to get to the basket” in the first game of their Washington, D.C. area event schedule.

The performance by Cockfield embodied her efforts throughout the season to this point. Throughout many of the games she’s played, she has been a focal point because of her ability to score the ball in different ways, and because of how hard she plays. Because of this, she often draws special assignments and double teams from opponents, and has shown the ability to continue to rise to the occasion. Cockfield should not be slept on, as this fifth year player could be a very good compliment to the right situation at the next level.
