Ryerson Signs 3 Deemed ‘Perfect Fit For Program’
Ryerson Rams Head Coach, Carly Clarke, has secured commitments from three G to begin play with her team in the Fall of 2017. Leyki Sorra (3-star, 6’0″, G, Bill Crothers, 2017) of Scarborough, ON, Jama Bin-Edward (3-stars 6’0″, G, TRC Academy) and Marin Scotten (3-stars, 5’10”, G, Wilfrid Laurier) have each committed to attend Ryerson University in Toronto, ON.
Leyki Sorra
Sorra is a long Guard who made her debut with Team Ontario this past summer, and attended the Tournament of Champions in Chicago and USJN Nationals in Washington, DC both in July. In Sorra, the Rams can expect a Guard with some Wing skills that has the ability to get hot from long range. Unselfish with the ball, she also adds good passing to her game and stands to round out her game with improved footwork and speed on the defensive end of the floor.
Jama Bin-Edward
After making her return to the hardwood after spending a considerable amount of time away from the game due to injury, Bin-Edward has been getting back to top form with TRC Academy prep. There she has been closing the gap that comes with the bit of rust that one would expect for close to a year. Her speed, leaping ability and defensive hustle will be greatly embraced by the Rams.
Marin Scotten
Scotten is another slender, Guard that Ryerson will be adding to the mix. Her Guard skills include and being able to make good decisions and comfortably connect from 15 feet. Scotten can put te ball on the floor when necessary and can navigate in tight spaces, setting her up for good offensive opportunities.
“All 3 players have length and athleticism for their position,” said Clarke, “which is a perfect fit for our program. They will help stretch the floor with their shooting around our strong post play.”
Clarke went on to acknowledge what they will be bringing to a Ryerson squad that won the OUA Championships in 2016 and finished second nationally. “Beyond that, all 3 have great experience from strong programs and are driven towards excellence on and off the floor.”
